URBAN DESIGN

I DREAM’D in a dream, I saw a city  invincible to the attacks of the whole of the rest of the earth;   I dream’d that was the new City of Friends;

ROOSEVELT ISLAND  NEW YORK  Formerly known as Welfare Island (from 1921 to 1973).Running from Manhattan's East 46th to East 85th streets, it is about two miles long, with a maximum width of 800 feet, and a total area of 147 acres. The island is part of the Borough of Manhattan and New York County.  Roosevelt Island has a land area of 0.279 sq miles. As part of the proposed design concept, recognition of both footings of the bridge along with most southern angle of the island, a triangular formation of spaces evolved based on visual ambiguity of motion and particularly from both Queens and Manhattan Waterfronts.

TALIACOSO  ITALY Situated near Rome, the City of Taliacoso elected to pursue an international competition in 1989 for ideas and concpets leading to full development of three potential sites within the its city fabric.  The concept arranges comprehensive combination of Retail, Residential along with both an outdoor and indoor theaters with simultaneously activities based on a collective distribution of function and space. The L Shape concpet enables generation and implementation of active and passive angles along with visual distribution of functions and spaces both vertically and horizontally.

TIMES SQUARE  NEW YORK   Formerly named Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed after the Times Building (now One Times Square) in April 1904. Times Square, sometimes known as the "Crossroads of the World," has achieved the status of an iconic world landmark and has become a symbol of New York City. Times Square is principally defined by its spectaculars, animated, digital advertisements. The concept involves complete development of Sky Bridges linking all major buildings on site through their elevator cores and lobbies and making the experience of Times Square an elevated vertical experience. The sights and sounds of Times Square would inhibit the senses of its visitors making it a well deserved experience both in a visual manner and a clear testimony of strength and will of this unique city.

SOLIDERE BEIRUT Our concept is reflective of the Spirit and Vision of a Middle Eastern Bazaar that inhibits the senses and feelings of its visitors.  Downtown Beirut was destructed and rebuild through the ages and remaines intact is the spirit of the people of Lebanon and their unbinding love of their capital. A series of Spaces and Functions are integrated through a linear distribution of Light and Geometry. The skewing of Curves reflects motion and vibrancy of Beirut whereas the straight linear path reflects the foundation of a new social fabric less affected by the past and yearning fora meaningful future.
